by | 20 March 2026 | Community Focus, Exercise, Local Charity, Local Experiences, Retford

Bassetlaw Hospice is inviting adventurous supporters to join the team for an exciting fundraising challenge to climb Ben Nevis. The challenge begins on Saturday 12th September, when participants will travel by coach from the Hospice to Scotland, staying at the Ben Nevis Hotel in Fort William. The evening will include time to relax, enjoy a meal and prepare for the climb ahead.

On Sunday 13th September, the team will take on the 1,345 metres of ascent and descent of Ben Nevis. The climb is expected to take approximately five hours up and three to four hours down, with stops along the way to enjoy the scenery. Expert local guides will lead the group, but as this is a demanding mountain, a good level of fitness is required and training beforehand is essential.

The team will return to the Hospice immediately after completing the climb.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Participants are asked to commit to raising £500 in sponsorship. For an entry form, please email debbie.rawlings@bassetlawhospice.org or visit http://www.bassetlawhospice.org. This is a fantastic opportunity to climb the highest mountain in the UK while raising vital funds for Bassetlaw Hospice.
