Nottinghamshire Mind has announced new dates for its Creative Ceramics programme, a ten-week course designed to support mental wellbeing through creativity, connection, and learning.
Delivered in partnership with the Harley Foundation, the programme gives people the opportunity to explore pottery in a calm, welcoming environment while experiencing the positive impact that creative activities can have on mental health.
Creative Ceramics is open to people of all abilities and no previous experience of pottery is needed. Whether participants are looking to try something new, build confidence, manage stress, or simply enjoy time for themselves, the programme provides a supportive space to slow down, connect with others, and focus on the present moment.
Taking place at the Harley Pottery Studio in Welbeck, sessions introduce participants to a range of pottery techniques including pinch-pot making, slab building, and glazing. As a relaxed ‘taster’ programme, the focus is on enjoying the creative process rather than achieving perfection, with participants able to take home their finished pieces.
Creative activities such as working with clay can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing. The tactile nature of pottery can help people feel grounded, reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus, and support confidence and self-expression. Alongside experienced pottery tutors, participants are supported by Nottinghamshire Mind staff, creating a safe space where people can explore creativity while building connections with others.
Participants can choose from two convenient weekly groups:
- Morning Session: 10.00am to 12.00pm
- Afternoon Session: 1.30pm to 3.30pm
Three programme intakes are available across the year:
- Autumn 2026: Thursday 17th September to 3rd December (no sessions on 22nd and 29th October during the half-term break)
- Winter 2027: 14th January to 25th March 2027 (no session on 18th February due to half term)
- Spring / Summer 2027: 22nd April to 1st July 2027 (no session on 3rd June during the half-term break)
The full 10-week programme is available for £90.00.
To ensure a personalised and engaging experience, each group is limited to 12 participants. Places are expected to fill quickly, so early booking is strongly recommended. The programme is open to people living in Nottinghamshire who would like to explore how creativity can support their mental wellbeing. People can self-refer directly through Nottinghamshire Mind, no previous pottery experience is required, and participants do not need to consider themselves ‘creative’ to take part.
