On Saturday 19th September, the Sheriff of Nottingham will be visiting Headon Church from 1.00pm to 4.30pm. Dressed in medieval costume and bringing a selection of period weapons, the Sheriff will be on the lookout for Robin Hood while explaining his role in medieval times and answering visitors’ questions.
Meanwhile, at the nearby Village Hall, there will be a barbecue from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, a skittles competition with the chance to win a traditional copper kettle, a tombola and a licensed bar. There may also be additional stalls and a woodturning demonstration, making it a fun afternoon for all the family.
Monthly coffee mornings
Friends of Headon Church are also launching monthly coffee mornings for residents of Headon, Upton and the surrounding villages. The first will take place on Saturday 5th September from 10.00am to 12.00pm in the church, with future coffee mornings planned for the first Saturday of each month, including Saturday 3rd October, subject to demand.
Everyone is welcome to come along for a drink, a chat and the opportunity to get to know others in the local community.
