The Notts Wildlife Trust’s Retford Group kicks off its 2018 lecture programme with a talk entitled ‘Smaller Than Life? Fantastic Photography’ on Thursday 11th January at 7.30pm. Speaker Spike Walker says that microscopes have been “something of an obsession” since his father bought him one when he was 11 or 12 years old.

Not long after, he began photographing the fascinating world it had opened up to him – a world he says “has still not lost any of its magic”.

Spike, who studied zoology and taught Biological Sciences in schools and colleges, will be showing a selection of his micrographs and macro photographs chosen to show the beauty and strangeness of the micro world revealed to him over the years.

This talk takes place at the Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre, Great North Road, Retford DN22 6SG. Everyone is welcome. The fee is £2.50 which includes light refreshments and there will be a raffle in aid of group funds.
