The Wednesday (Memory) Group

The health benefits of working out are well-known: it helps to protect against many diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure, it increases your energy levels, helps you to sleep better, gives you more confidence and can help improve your social life too and more.

The disadvantages of being a couch potato are equally well-known and, unfortunately, as we get older, that’s the lifestyle many people are more likely to adopt. As joints stiffen and it becomes more difficult to move around, we find ourselves spending too much time sitting. We make excuses: exercise is boring; it’s hard to get motivated; it’s too late; I should have done it when I was younger.

But, it’s never too late. Members of the Wednesday Group exercise regularly without even knowing they’re doing it. They’ve been dancing and playing games like boccia for some time but recently, Sian, their sports advisor has introduced them to a parachute! Yes, the sort you sometimes see being used in school playgrounds. Kids love them and the group had so much fun with it, that they didn’t realise how much of a workout they’d had until they stopped.
If you have memory problems and think you might benefit from joining the Wednesday Group, call Jan to arrange a visit. Your first session is free so there’s nothing to lose and they’re always looking for new ways to have fun, keep mentally and physically fit and enjoy life. Oh yes, and exercise can improve your memory too!
