Parkinson’s UK Bassetlaw Branch

by | 29 June 2018 | Support Group

The Bassetlaw branch of Parkinson’s UK welcomed the talented Roger Glew to their September meeting. Roger gave a splendid presentation about George Formby. When song sheets were handed round, it became obvious that members were expected to join in the singing. Everyone enjoyed a fun afternoon and sang along with gusto. Most members went home humming “I’m leaning on a lamppost”. Roger will certainly feature in the branch programme for 2018.

An excellent lunch at The Chequers, Ranby, took place in September, with 29 members enjoying a meal together in good company. The group will enjoy afternoon tea whilst cruising the River Trent on 4th October and an afternoon of tea and cakes at the Aurora Centre on Tuesday 17th October at 2.00pm. The popular ceramics course at The Harley Gallery (in conjunction with Mind) starts again on 9th October. Members are invited to join the group. The course is very therapeutic and great fun.

The branch’s October meeting includes Tony Leake talking about ‘The Benefits of Relaxation for people with Parkinson’s’ and Rachel (Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist) will also be present for members to chat to. For more information about the Branch and its many activities call Chris on 01909 730629.
