The February meeting of the Bassetlaw branch of Parkinson’s UK was very well attended, despite the smattering of snow and gave a warm welcome to five new members. Guest Julie Colby gave a splendid presentation on her role as wardrobe mistress for The Sheffield Drama School. Costume creation on a minimal budget was the theme of the talk entitled ‘Rags to Riches’, which delighted everyone.
The branch social activities for 2018 started with lunch at The Lockkeeper on 19th February and afternoon tea together is planned for 19th March.
The newly-formed swimming afternoon is proving popular, but room is available any other interested members. The pilates class continues to grow with exercise and laughter being the focus for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Many thanks must go to Sarah Mullany for her patience and expert tuition.
A recent introduction to branch events is a ‘Sunday Stroll’ around Langold Lake. Members meet at the car park at 10.30am for a leisurely walk to enjoy the wildlife and scenery.
The next meeting takes place on Tuesday 6th March at 2.00pm at Worksop Cricket Club. The first part will be the AGM. Following the AGM, Annette Davies will speak about the work of Citizen’s Advice.
