Parkinson’s UK

The first Bassetlaw Branch of Parkinson’s UK meeting of the new year was well-attended and new members joined the group and received a warm welcome.

The branch’s aim for 2018 is to reach as many people with Parkinson’s disease in the area as possible and show them that there is a full and active life to be enjoyed despite some of the difficulties of the condition.

The branch funds a weekly pilates class and swimming session, both of which are most beneficial to members. The ceramics course (together with Mind) has recommenced for a further 10 weeks of relaxation, camaraderie and fun.

Already in the 2018 calendar is an afternoon of tea and cakes at the Aurora Centre with emphasis on ‘carers’ and a visit to the Majestic Theatre to see My Fair Lady. The meeting at Worksop Cricket Club at 2.00pm on Tuesday 6th February will welcome Julie Colby talking about ‘Rags to Riches’ — an amusing account of a wardrobe mistress.
