Parkinson’s UK

Members of the Bassetlaw branch Parkinson’s UK wish all readers a happy and healthy new year. The group’s busy year ended with a lively Christmas party with pie and pea buffet followed by cream cakes and seasonal desserts. Jessica Brett provided music, Christmas singing and fun and spoke about the benefits of singing. The afternoon rounded off with a quiz and huge raffle. It can safely be said that a good time was had by all.

The first meeting of 2018 takes place on Tuesday 9th January at Worksop Cricket Club, when the guest speaker will be Adele Lawson from Retford Action Centre speaking about energy saving and other good advice. New members will be warmly welcome. Please note that this meeting is not the first Tuesday of the month as is the usual date. All returns to normal for the February meeting.

The branch members will start swimming sessions on Tuesdays in mid-January at the School of Swimming, Low Common Road, Dinnington. It is recognised that swimming for people with Parkinson’s disease is of great benefit and together with the popular pilates class members enjoy, it will help maintain mobility and wellbeing.

The aim of the branch is to always to stretch the hand of friendship and support to everyone suffering from the condition. Members firmly believe that no-one should feel alone or isolated and encourage all Parkinson’s patients to join the group. For more information call Chris on 01909 730629.
