The Bassetlaw branch of Parkinson’s UK continues to grow, with new members joining almost every month and receiving a warm welcome. The April meeting welcomed Meryl White who presented a splendid talk and demonstration of ‘Grandma Abson’s Traditional Baking’ which, together, with a plentiful supply of old fashioned cakes to try, rounded off a great afternoon. The meeting also enjoyed a demonstration of therapeutic massage by Ruth Hardy.
The meeting on 7th May sees Rachel Barrowcliffe demonstrating ‘Container Gardening — growing veg in pots’ while 4th June will welcome Dr Fiona McKevitt — Consultant Neurologist — speaking about Parkinson’s disease.
Members will enjoy a visit to The Acorn Theatre on 18th May to see South Pacific performed by The Worksop Light Operatic Society and a coach trip to Brigg and Garden Centre on 12th June. The popular lunch club continues to meet every two months at The Lockkeeper. Pilates, creative ceramics and computer classes are amongst some of the many activities of the group. They aim to demonstrate that there is a full social life to be enjoyed amongst friends who understand some of the difficulties that Parkinson’s disease can have.
