Gerald Price from Woodland Trust gave The Bassetlaw Cardiac Support Group a very engaging talk on Friday 7th June. This was the group’s first meeting at their new venue at the Gymnasium, Bassetlaw Hospital, and Gerald was well received. Within a few miles, in any direction, our area is very fortunate to have so much ancient and managed woodland around us. It is a fact that woodlands make up only 13% of the UK land and we must have more than our fair share in Bassetlaw. After the club travelled further afield to Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire lately, it was realised how fortunate we are locally.
In May, 68 members of the group and Parkinson’s UK group friends enjoyed a trip to see South Pacific at the Acorn Theatre and many people also enjoyed their visit to Brigg Garden Centre on 12th June.
The next meeting will be on Friday 5th July, at Retford Hospital, Collington Suite, at 2.00pm, when the group will welcome back Sam Glasswell to talk about the Mayflower and Pilgrim Fathers. They always look forward to welcoming new members. For further information about the group, please call Chairman Pat Broskom on 01909 562361.
