Well, after the last one they’re coming back for more. Yes, the karaoke bug has hit Retford Bowling Green and the club have two evenings scheduled for this month. The first of these will take the form of a sing-along where everyone can open their lungs in unison, or alternatively mime and hope no one else notices. The second will be for the purists, which of course members are now after the performances the first time. Will Elvis be back? Widow Twankey’s sure to be there and hopefully the lady who takes many guises, Jane Barlow — one of a crop of new members last year who have shown themselves to be real assets to the club. Another new member, Mary Stanner was overall champion on ladies’ day reflecting the great promise she and our other new recruits have for the future.
The club’s efforts last year to secure the signing on of a number of valuable members was certainly well rewarded and they will once again be holding an open day this year, probably at the end of April, when they hope to attract more new members. While they hope you will think enough about the club to consider joining, there will be no pressure on you to do so. So, if you are at all interested in joining a friendly club to pursue an enjoyable activity in the open air and be part of a club that offers much more besides, keep your eyes peeled for further information on this. You can of course visit the club’s website, which is regularly updated, at www.retfordbowlinggreen.co.uk.
