Retford Bowling Green

As winter drew to a close and spring was in the air, Retford Bowling Green looked forward to the start of the bowling season. To finish off the winter season they held the last of their winter social gatherings. In March another karaoke session was a great success. Of particular note was the opening number by the ‘Bowling Sisters’, three gentlemen dressed in drag performing a number of songs. In April the club held their traditional pre-season dinner, which this year was a carvery at the club.

Also of note in the winter season is their team of indoor bowlers known as ‘The Crofters’. They play in a league in Worksop and this year they came second in their division by a very small margin. Well done them!

At this time of the year the club are looking to recruit more members to this fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable game. To that end they have a number of free sessions for you, the public, to come along, meet us and try your hand at the game.

  • Charter Day — Monday 6th May at the bowling green in Kings Park, the club will be there to welcome you and give you a taster.
  • Free coaching sessions —Saturdays 11th May until 1st June from 10.00am to 12.00pm at the club. In this case you can come to one or all of the sessions for coaching, meeting the members, having a cuppa and finding out about the club.

All equipment is provided and there is no need to book — just roll up — you’ll find a warm welcome.
