Beckingham Bowls Club members enjoyed their Annual Lunch on 17th March at Thonock Park Golf Club and ground staff are working hard to prepare their green for the new season, which starts with Gainsborough Bowls League practice matches against Marton during week commencing 29th April.
The club celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2018 and runs teams in four local leagues. It has a full programme of club events, both active and social and is looking for new members of all ages, with or without bowling experience to help members continue providing this facility into the future.
Their season runs from late April to early September and they pride themselves in having one of the best greens in the area. Their bowling green is situated adjacent to Beckingham and Saundby Village Hall, just off the roundabout where the A620 road to Retford joins the A631 Gainsborough to Bawtry road.
It is a friendly, self-funding club and its motto is “Growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional”. Bowls is not just a sport for older people. Why not join the club? Please call Roger on 01427 848628 to find out more.
