Retford Men’s Probus Club has been running since 1971. Their meetings take place at the Westhill Community Centre, Ordsall at 10.00am every other Friday. If you want to get involved, please see www.retfordmensprobusclub.org.uk.
The club has had a really interesting start to the year. In January one of their members Tony Kerswell talked about the problems of deafness and an old friend, Andy Smart, told members of a number of Nottinghamshire men and women who gave their lives for our country.
February kicked off with a bang, when Lindsay Dawes told members about his business at Westland’s Farm Shop in North Wheatley. Finally, Steven Flinders reminded the club once again of the Zeppelin Raids which took place in the Great War, over Retford and the Midlands.
Retford Men’s Probus Club is one of those organisations where good fellowship is of prime importance. The speakers are important of course, but not as important as the fellowship members show to each other, and the cup of coffee and a yarn before the meeting starts. Come and try the Probus Club. Members meet every other Friday morning at Westhill Community Centre, in Ordsall at 10.00am. If you are interested in joining them, please email secretary Dennis Beevers at dennis@denboy.plus.com and he will give you more details.
