Retford Men’s Probus Club

by | 20 June 2019 | Probus, Social Group

Retford Men’s Probus Club has been running since 1971. Our meetings take place at the Westhill Community Centre, Ordsall at 10.00am every other Friday. If you want to get involved, please visit www.retfordmensprobus.org.uk.
Our fortnightly meetings run from early September until the end of May. Our first two meetings of the coming year start on Friday 7th September, with a talk from Ian Maber called ‘The Telling of Tales’.

Our second meeting in September, on the 21st will be given by Richard Gibbons. This talk will centre on the ‘Cuban Missile Crisis’, of October 1962, when the whole World was on the brink of ‘Nuclear Armageddon.’

During his Presidential acceptance speech, the Club’s new President Geoff Gadie thanked the previous year’s President and committee for all the work they had done. He also wanted his thanks passed onto ‘Retford Life’ magazine, for their continued support in printing details of our club each month.

We like to feel that Retford Men’s Probus Club is one of those organisations where good fellowship is of prime importance. The speakers are important of course, but not as important as the fellowship we show to each other, and the cup of coffee and a yarn before the meeting starts. Come and try us.

Probus Club meet every other Friday morning at Westhill Community Centre, in Ordsall at 10.00am. If you are interested in joining us, please email our secretary Dennis Beevers at, dennis@denboy.plus.com and he will give you more details.
