Undeterred by the torrential rain in June, the ladies of North and South Wheatley WI, dressed in their finery, retired to a decorated village hall and enjoyed a sumptuous afternoon tea. Beginning with a glass of prosecco, there followed a tasty variety of dainty sandwiches, strawberries and cream, plus a vast selection of cakes. A tea-themed quiz provided a fun brain teaser and large fancy teacups filled with a selection of teas and biscuits were provided as prizes. A great time was had by all and plans are afoot to repeat the experience next summer! The afternoon also went towards supporting the Marie Curie ‘Blooming Great Tea Party 2019’ campaign, raising £55.00!
An exciting autumn programme lies ahead. Why not go along and learn new crafts in September, then enjoy a delicious harvest supper, followed by entertainment in October. In keeping with the month, November’s talk will be about Kinder Transport in WWII. The year will complete with the fantastic Christmas Party on Monday 9th December.
