East Markham WI

by | 10 October 2020 | Social Group, WI

What a strange year it has been for the nation at large and for East Markham WI. When you read this October will have arrived after months of no meetings. So what do the next few months have to offer this WI group? Probably not a lot!
The Village Hall is having air conditioning fitted and the earliest reopening date is October. The management committee will provide a Covid-secure risk assessment, indicating numbers allowed inside, the facilities available and the guidelines hirers have to follow. Once the group have this information, under national and federation advice, they have to carry out their own risk assessment for each proposed meeting to ensure the safety of members. They also have to consider the views of their members, do they wish to restart meetings as soon as possible or wait until the situation is much clearer? Do let the committee know your views. Whatever they do, they must stay within national and any local guidance.

Over the past months East Markham WI have tried to keep in touch and show that they are thinking of their members. They hope they enjoyed their recent ‘Elevenses’ refreshment package, the poems and were able to complete the word searches and quiz. For those with internet access, there is much of interest on offer. Do look at the web and Facebook pages of My WI, National and Federation, Denman at Home, the Unofficial WI and WI Wanderers. Many WIs are running their meetings on Zoom and invite others to join them. It is amazing what can be learned and enjoyed.
They will continue to keep East Markham branch as active as possible over the next few months and make sure members are all safe.
