Nottinghamshire YMCA is taking families from the across the county on exciting camping expeditions with the YMCA Adventure Guides programme. YMCA Adventure Guides is all about strengthening bonds between parents and their children. Families plan their own shared adventures and experiences in tightly-knit groups called ‘circles’. Circles provide structure and a sense of community. As well as circle activities, families engage with monthly expeditions, which can be anything from an evening of arts and crafts to a camping weekend in the great outdoors. Throughout summer 2018, YMCA Adventure Guides will be taking Nottinghamshire families on a variety of weekend camping expeditions designed to help build skills, friendships, and confidence in both children and parents.
“The Adventure Guides programme gives parents opportunities to engage with their children, opportunities that might otherwise be hard to come by due to work hours, travel, and expenses,” said Adventure Guides Officer Steve Scott. “We believe that spending quality one-on-one time with your child will help build a strong bond of trust and memories that will last a lifetime; these trips and activities are truly special.”
Every year the Nottinghamshire YMCA take their YMCA Adventure Guides families on weekend camping expeditions, where they spend time in the great outdoors, learning new skills and taking part in exciting activities. This year the YMCA Adventure Guides will be heading to:
- Beaumanor Hall Camping Expedition (dads and children only) on Saturday 14th to Sunday 15th July
- Walesby Forest Camping Expedition (family) on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September
The camping expeditions are a chance for families to try exciting outdoor activities such as archery, den building, quad biking, and camp fire building.
Expeditions are fully organised by Nottinghamshire YMCA. To find out more and to book places for you and your family, contact the YMCA Adventure Guides team on 0115 978 5809 or email adventure@nottsymca.org.
