About James Clarke

Worksop-born James Clarke, the organiser of Worksop’s Got Talent, has been successfully fundraising for blindness charity, Retina UK since 2016. The previous year, James was told that because of his rare eye condition, retinitis pigmentosa (RP), he would go blind in his lifetime if a cure is not found, he was banned from driving immediately and he was registered as partially sighted.

As well as masterminding the award-winning Worksop’s Got Talent, he’s also completed other challenges including sky dives, half marathons, taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks and climbing Snowdon.
James has raised over £165,000 for the charity and continues to fundraise to hopefully save his and thousands of others’ sight loss.

And it’s time for his biggest challenge yet – the Sahara Desert! 2025 is the year he has turned 30, the year he celebrates 10 years of fundraising and the year that Retina UK marks 50 years of vital work, so in November he’ll be completing a Sahara Desert trek.
