It’s the 12th annual Family Fun Weekend and Mill Fest Open North Leverton Windmill on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September and everyone is invited to go along and join in the fun. There really is something for everyone and it’s free entry — a simple donation would be welcome if you enjoy your visit. All proceeds from the weekend go to the windmill charitable trust to keep the doors open and this iconic windmill in tip top condition.
The day time activities start at 12.00pm to 4.00pm and on Saturday the fun continues into the evening with local bands and music including Gaucho, The Levertones, and Jake Cleaver.
There will be fantastic refreshments on offer, including the windmill pizza oven and BBQ, along with tea, coffee and cakes and of course local favourite Madame Crêpe, The Bees’ Knees bar and an ice cream tricycle. There will also be food available on Saturday evening too.
You can also browse the stalls selling local crafts and local produce. There are lots of exhibits, and this year don’t miss Wheels at the Windmill supported by Retford and Gainsborough Motor Club as well as birds of prey, heavy horse and shire horses. During the day there is J S Leisure to keep the kids entertained along with have-a-go archery courtesy of Top Archery. There will be, of course, the Fun Dog Show on both days. And if the wind is blowing the sails will be turning and they will be selling their renowned windmill flour.
This is always a very popular event with lots of space for stall holders and exhibitors, so if you would like to go along as an exhibitor or with a stall, please get in contact with Julie or James on 01427 880254 or 07968 969424.
WHEELS AT THE WINDMILL
Coinciding with the Family Fun Weekend, at North Leverton Windmill there will also be the end of the year Wheels at the Windmill event. This is for vehicles of all types; classic cars, bikes, sportscars, tractors, trucks and enthusiasts… if it has wheels, then get it to North Leverton Windmill.
There is lots of space and camping is also available if you want to make it a weekend event — and car clubs very welcome. There is no cost to attend, even if you want to bring your tent!
