The green opened at Wheatley Bowls Club in April after a busy spring of renovation and titivating. League matches start this month on Monday and Wednesday evenings and also on Tuesday afternoons. The programme is on the noticeboard outside the club and on the Club’s Facebook page. Members will be hoping to improve on second place in the Gainsborough League last year and a single cup win from three finals.
They are keen to recruit new members to this friendly, welcoming club and offer the opportunity to try the sport for free and a first-year membership of just £25.00. They can also provide some equipment while you get started. Alternatively, you are very welcome to call in when you’re passing if you would just like to sit in the sun (fingers crossed!), spectate and drink tea.
They have an Open Evening on Friday 2nd May from 5.00pm to coincide with a separate ‘Food and Drink Friday’ at North and South Wheatley Village Hall next door. Why not pop in and give bowls a go and then enjoy a drink and Carrie’s Indian Bites next door? Please wear flat shoes if you want to go on the green.
