Stephen Booth — book signing
Thursday 16th August 11.00am
Author Stephen Booth will be signing copies of his latest Cooper and Fry novel, Fall Down Dead.
Writers’ Group
The Writers’ Group will meet on Thursday 2nd, 16th and 30th August from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. Come along, listen and share. For further information you can contact Kevin on 07903 654499 and kpm2@talktalk.net.
Craft and Coffee Club
The Craft and Coffee Club does not meet in August but will be back on Wednesday 5th September, from 1.30pm to 3.00pm. Bring along your project, swap ideas, patterns and materials over a coffee, it is only 50p for refreshments. The group will have a break over the summer and will return on 5th September.
Home Library Service
Retford Library has a team of RVS volunteers who deliver a selection of library books to those who are housebound and cannot access the library.
Family History Group
The self-supporting Family History Group does not meet in August but will be back on Monday 10th September from 5.00pm to 7.00pm. Library facilities, including the Local Studies Rooms and free computer access to the Ancestry website are also available.
Local and Family History Drop-in Surgery
Need advice about family or local history? A Local Studies librarian will be on hand from 9.30am to 1.00pm on Thursday 16th August. This drop-in session is free and no booking is required.
Rattle, Rhyme and Roll
Every Wednesday and Friday from 10.00 to 10.20am. Songs, rhymes and musical instruments for babies and toddlers. Have fun with your little ones and meet other parents.
Summer Activities for Children
Retford Library has a full programme of children’s activities for the summer holidays:
- Monday 30th July — ‘Around the World’, 1.00pm to 3.00pm. Booking essential *
- Tuesday 31st July — Horrid Henry Event, 10.30am to 3.00pm drop-in. Crafts and games all day. Story sessions at 11.00am, 12.30pm and 2.00pm
- Friday 3rd August — Family Theatre — ‘The Gingerbread Man’, 10.30am. Booking essential* Enquire for ticket prices.
- Tuesday 7th August — Craft Club ‘Doorhangers’, 10.00am to 12.00pm drop-in
- Thursday 9th August — Family Learning — Dinosaur Explorers! 10.30am to 12.30pm. Free event but booking essential*
- Tuesday 14th August — Craft Club ‘Make a Gnasher’, 10.00am to 12.00pm drop-in.
- Tuesday 21st August — Craft Club — ‘Mischief Masks’ 10.00am to 12.00pm drop-in
- Saturday 25th August — Mischief Makers Comic Strip Workshop, 10.00am to 3.00pm. Free event but booking essential*
- Tuesday 28th August — Craft Club ‘Mischief and Matchboxes’, 10.00am to 12.00pm drop-in.

- Saturday 8th September — Last day of SRC, Badge making and games, 9.30am to 11.00am.
