Illness has reduced numbers at the Wednesday Group, but it certainly hasn’t reduced the enthusiasm or enjoyment.
Sports lady, Sian, has returned and had everyone doing chair exercises, which some considered would be no exercise at all. How wrong can you be? Everyone jiggled along to the music for about 20 minutes, laughing and waving their arms and generally having a jolly time. It wasn’t until the end that the group realised they’d had a serious work out – and they felt much better and more alert for it too!
The usual game of bingo and quiz followed, then after lunch pianist Frank appeared with his keyboard and entertained for an hour while the group played cards, dominoes, did some craft work, sang along, or did a bit more jiggling to the music.
If you enjoy a laugh, a bit of social interaction and a spot of physical activity, the Wednesday Group could be for you.
This is a mixed group of carers, former carers and people with dementia. If you care for someone with dementia or you yourself have a diagnosis and you think the Wednesday Group might be helpful, do get in touch.
