We CAAN is a charity-based initiative providing a welcoming and supportive environment where children and adults with additional needs can be themselves. The group currently operates thanks to the generosity of St Giles School, which provides the space for these inclusive sessions.

We CAAN launched its 2025 programme during the Easter holidays, holding four sessions: two for ‘Busy Bods’ and two for wheelchair users and individuals with lower mobility. The sessions welcomed both familiar and new families, offering a valuable opportunity for carers to connect, share advice and discuss their experiences. Meanwhile, participants were free to explore the resources on offer, including access to the school’s sensory and soft play rooms.

Gratitude is extended to Hannah Robertson, who raised a significant sum for we CAAN by running the Manchester Marathon. Her efforts are deeply appreciated, and the team looks forward to welcoming her and her family again soon.

The next session will take place on Thursday 29th May at St Giles School, Retford. The morning session (10.00am to 12.00pm) is for those who are mobile, and the afternoon session (12.30pm to 2.20pm) is for those with lower mobility. The sessions are open to all children and adults with additional needs. Entry is £3.00 for participants with additional needs and £2.00 for siblings. Carers attend free of charge.
