We CAAN is a charity-based initiative to provide a space for children and adults with additional needs a space to be themselves. Space is currently being provided by the generosity of St Giles School.
On 29th May, we CAAN held two stay and play sessions at St Giles School. They welcomed over 15 families, including one new family to the we CAAN community. With the weather being fine, the sensory quad and the playground were open for play and, as always, the sensory room and soft play were a popular place for people to gather.
The morning saw the ‘busy bods’ exerting lots of energy and giving parents and carers chance to catch up, share experiences and offer support for those who needed it, whilst in the afternoon the pace slowed for those less mobile, giving opportunities to stretch out, relax on the vibration mat or get comfy on Ollie the Octopus.
We CAAN’s next sessions will run during the summer holiday break, once again thanks to St Giles who let them use their space. There will be water out so be prepared to get wet!
Everyone at we CAAN would also like to extend their gratitude to Louise Clarkson and all at LCSD dance academy. On 8th June, the academy’s dancers from all age groups were sponsored to dance for three hours. This raised funds to enable the charity to buy resources and plan for future events and they are always thankful for their support.
