Every Wednesday in the winter months, Ordsall Church at the top of Church Lane is open between 10.00am and 4.00pm to offer a warm space, an activity and a free light lunch for anyone who would like to come for all or any of the time.
There is an opportunity to have a hot drink and chat at the Welcome Café in the morning and join the Craft Group in the afternoon, or just sit quietly and do your own thing. All are welcome.
Church grant
The Church is very pleased to announce that The National Churches Trust has awarded £1,500 towards the repointing of the stonework on the south side of the church. This work will start in the spring. Additionally, the Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust has promised a grant of £750 towards the cost.
Show time
It’s show time again at the end of the month down the bottom of Church Lane in Ordsall Parish Hall! There is a rare chance to see Indian dance with an experienced dancer, Sonia Sabri, with an excellent reputation in the national and international dance world.
Sonia led the dancing at the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. She brings a group of dancers, Roshni, to the Hall on Sunday 26th February at 3.30pm for their display of Kathak dance from Northern India.
The company creates contemporary work relevant to modern audiences, that is inspired by Indian and British culture, and the rich possibilities that arise when they meet.
Sonia Sabri Company is one of three Dance Projects to receive funding from Dance Hub Birmingham.
This show will be of particular interest to dancers of all ages, and to anyone with an interest to see something unusual in this area.
After the performance there will be an afternoon tea served and a Q&A session with Sonia and her team. This is a Live & Local sponsored event supported by local councils and local volunteers.
