A Tuesday lunchtime in a quiet village might seem an unusual time to run a café service, but these days there are quite a lot of people in a village in the middle of a weekday. For a start there are a lot of retired folk, then there are a lot of people in these changing times who work from home in small businesses or via the internet, then there are a number of parents and carers with pre-school children and there are local enterprises and companies.
In addition, the Tuesday ‘Village Soup’ in East Markham Village Hall (from 12.00pm to 1.30pm) benefits from running alongside the visiting Post Office (from 11.45am to 1.45pm) for letters, parcel and standard range of services and the Parish Council Office, which is open for general enquiries.
Throughout February, the service will be run by a Lincoln catering company with close connections to the village and they are also hoping to develop a fuller range of lunchtime specials including meals for pre-school toddlers and a take-out service. February has been determined as the key developmental period so please do call in and let the organisers know what arrangements would suit you best. That’s Tuesdays from 12.00pm to 1.30pm, at East Markham Village Hall (SatNav NG22 0SS). Everyone is welcome.
As before, this weekly lunchtime event will act as a good sounding-board for activities in the village and surrounding areas and will include an information table giving details of all local activities, events, services, businesses, etc. If you have any information that you would like displayed (handbills, surveys, events, performances, charity ventures, associations) could you please ensure the organisers receive copies of your material in good time to display them each week. This is a free service and there is no charge. Post them or deliver them to the village hall or for further information contact Barry Smith via email barry.smith@btinternet.com or call or text 07778 405238. A free ‘promotional platform’ is available to any local businesses which wish to participate.
