As the chairman of Tuxford Town Council, I would like to take this opportunity and extend my grateful thanks to all the traders and the public who helped to make the day a very big success. I very much hope that this will prompt more traders and public to join us at this year’s (2018) event.
I would also like to extend my thanks to the people who have worked so hard and tirelessly to bring things together for the event and for putting their shoulders to the wheel to help with all the arrangements. In particular a big thank you to the vice chair Councillor Elaine Atkin, Councillor Joan Moorehouse, Councillor John Robinson and the new Town Clerk, Lynn Holland. And, of course, not forgetting Martin, John and Aidie, our council staff, for all the very hard work and early mornings putting up the lights, the Christmas trees around the town along with, erecting the stall and barriers and a million and one other duties for the event.
My thanks also go to the chairman of the Tuxford Working Mens Club, along with thanks to Claire Shaw for their part in creating, for the first year, at the Working Mens Club the very successful Santa’s Grotto. Our thanks also go to Shirley and Keith Issard, our Bassetlaw councillors, for their generosity in supporting Santa. But there is a special thank you to our Town Crier who has unfortunately, retired this year after many years performing his duties on the day.
We were delighted to see Robert Jenrick MP, who had a stall in the market for the first time. I hope we can welcome him again for this year’s event. Along with our Notts County Councillor, Councillor John Ogle.
Tuxford Town Council councillors would like to wish all a happy new year.
