The March meeting of the North Nottinghamshire Local Group of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust will feature a talk by David Parkin called ‘Britain’s Seabirds: Threats and Challenges’. They’re delighted to welcome David back; he’s given some outstanding bird talks in the past, so don’t miss out.
This talk concentrates on the north-east Atlantic Ocean which is home to millions of seabirds; Britain and Ireland play host to some truly magnificent colonies. It describes methods of monitoring these birds and shows how changes in the numbers can sometimes be related to problems in the oceans themselves.
David is an accomplished speaker and an enthusiastic ornithologist and natural historian. He helped found the Department of Genetics at Nottingham University where he became Professor of Avian Genetics and specialised in evolutionary genetics.
This meeting will be held in the Rural Learning Centre at the Idle Valley, North Road (A638), Retford DN22 8RQ on 14th March. The meeting starts at 7.30pm. Admission costs £2.50, which includes refreshments. All are welcome, including non-members.
