The Wednesday Memory Group – Plans for the Coming Year

by | 7 March 2023 | Retford, Support Group

One thing the Wednesday Group is good at is trying out new ideas and activities.

This doesn’t mean, of course, that they abandon all the old favourites. In fact, they have recently welcomed, Sian, their sports lady, back to meetings. Sian is the one who got the group playing boccia, new age curling, archery and goodness knows what else!

She has been unable to attend for some time, but the group is delighted to have her back. They’ve no idea what activities she’ll be suggesting in the coming weeks but they’re sure to be fun and help to keep members fit.

There are more plans for lunches out at West Retford Hotel, always enjoyed by members, and lots more ideas for musical entertainment. The group is very fortunate in having a regular pianist, Frank, whose flying fingers delight everyone, and they also enjoy occasional visits from Jessica Brett.

There are plans to invite other musicians too, but no firm commitments yet so keep your eye on the ‘Life’ magazines for updates to the programme.

Speaking of new, the number of new members joining is very encouraging. Everyone is most welcome and it’s good to see them joining in activities, chatting and generally giving every indication that they are enjoying being with the group. Long may it continue.

If you care for someone with dementia or you yourself have a diagnosis and you think the Wednesday Group might be helpful, do get in touch.
