The Wednesday Memory Group

by | 18 January 2024 | Retford, Support Group

The Wednesday Group wishes all its members, volunteers and friends a very happy 2024 and thanks them for their support throughout 2023.

The group seems to have turned a corner this past year and made a complete recovery from the effects of the pandemic. People come regularly. They look relaxed and eager to meet their friends, no longer concerned about wearing a mask or keeping their distance. They enjoy the fun and laughter and are keen to sing and dance when there is music.

The fantastic volunteers have really helped people to get back into the swing. Smiling and friendly, they encourage members to try a new activity, cards or perhaps boccia, to get up and dance or simply to sit with someone else and chat for a while.

It’s all about getting out and meeting people and having a good time. It’s been said before but worth saying again that a good social life is vitally important to a healthy old age so if yours is lacking a bit, make it a New Year resolution to renew your old friendships and make some new ones!

If you care for someone with dementia or you yourself have a diagnosis and you think the Wednesday Group might be helpful, do get in touch. For more information, contact Jan on 01777 709974 or 07969 180067 or email janwilliamson133@gmail.com for the latest on what the group is doing and current availability.

There is currently a waiting list, but it may not be for long. Although there is a charge to cover costs, your first visit is free.

The Wednesday Group will be closed on 27th December and 3rd January and will reopen on 10th January.
