It’s hard to believe the Wednesday Group has been in existence for over three years now. When we first started, we wondered whether we would last three months. One thing is for certain, groups like ours owe a huge debt to the good will and commitment of their volunteers.
Wednesday Group volunteers cheerfully turn up every week with wonderful ideas for craft work, quiz questions that have been researched at home and, when it comes to lunch time, they serve main courses and puddings that any restaurant would be proud to put on the menu. Christmas is a good time to say, “Thank you,” for all this and to show we appreciate the massive efforts our volunteers make to bring joy to the lives of others.
It was particularly nice this year that for once we were all able to go out and celebrate together. We went to Tickhill Garden Centre where volunteers and members had a wander round the Christmas lights, did a bit of shopping and then all had lunch together in Wellington’s Café and Bistro and none of us had to cook, peel potatoes or wash up! Jonathon and his team at the café did the hard work and Ken took us there in the Bassetlaw Action Centre minibus. Thank you to them all for doing such a splendid job.
There are many more people we should thank for their encouragement, support and kindness, too many to list here but we are grateful to them for helping to keep the Wednesday Group going. We wish all our members, friends and supporters a very happy Christmas. We shall reopen for 2018 on 10th January. We look forward to welcoming all our members back then.
