Making the Right Decision
Life has a habit of throwing unwelcome problems our way from time to time, and it’s interesting how differently people cope with them. Some face problems head on, dealing with them logically and calmly, while others tend to bury their heads in the sand, only responding as a last resort when few options remain and a decision is forced upon them.
One Wednesday Group member recently shared an experience that showed the first approach may not always be the best. “I wish I’d never had my memory problem investigated,” he said. “I thought if I knew what was wrong, I could plan for the future, but all it’s meant is that when I forget something, I’m reminded of what my problem is and that there’s no cure for it.”
This is not the case for everyone, and certainly not the right decision for everyone, but it may be something to think about. Hopefully, it will not always be the case that there is no cure for dementia, and knowing that would lift an enormous burden from our minds as we get older.
If you care for someone with dementia, have a diagnosis yourself, or simply want to learn more and think the Wednesday Group might be helpful, please get in touch. Contact Jan on 01777 709974 or 07969 180067 or email janwilliamson133@gmail.com for the latest on activities and availability.
There is currently a short waiting list, but it’s worth contacting the group as vacancies can arise at any time. Sessions cost £10.00, which includes lunch, and your first visit is free.
