The Wednesday Group would like to wish all members, volunteers and friends a very happy 2023 and thank them all for their support throughout 2022.
It hasn’t been the easiest of years; it’s taken a long time to recover from the pandemic and for members to feel comfortable going out and mixing again. The amazing volunteers have been an enormous help with that, encouraging people to join in, have a chat and try out new activities. The volunteers turn up smiling every week and ensure everyone has a great time.
The group has even had to extend its opening times so everyone could spend a little longer catching up and having a laugh and a chat over cups of tea before the activities.
In the last few months of the year, several more people joined the group. They soon made friends and began to feel at home. Organisers are expecting even more people to join the group in the coming year.
One new thing the group has tried out, at the suggestion of members, was to have an additional trip to the West Retford Hotel for lunch. This was not on a Wednesday and members paid for themselves. Everyone decided to attend, and it was a lovely, social event. This is certainly something the group will do again from time to time throughout the year.
