Four years ago, The Lena Snowden Singers gave a concert commemorating 100 years since the start of The Great War. The concert was a complete sell-out and enjoyed by all. The audience played their part by joining in with the singing when required. The atmosphere, though a serious remembrance, was one of light heartedness and fun, until the singing stopped at the end and a small service of remembrance took place with a one-minute silence followed by two buglers playing The Last Post and Reveille.
On that occasion the emphasis was on commemoration, not celebration. Now four years on, the choir feels it can indeed celebrate the end of that terrible time in our history, for although many lives were lost and damaged our country was once again at peace and ready to re-build.
Please join the choir at Hallcroft Methodist Church on Thursday 1st November at 7.00pm and help them raise the roof with patriotism and song, with as much red, white and blue as you wish. The concert will include a bugler as before and will benefit The Royal British Legion.
Tickets are £7.00, to include refreshments, and can be obtained from Judy on 01777 701022, Pat on 01777 708253 or any choir member.
