The Inner Wheel Club of Retford’s visit to The Longest Yarn in Southwell was a great success. The workmanship and scenes depicted quite amazing.
At the time of writing, the Club is getting ready to celebrate 100 years of Inner Wheel (and 45 years of Retford Inner Wheel) at their annual charter lunch. They are depicting the various decades via music and costume and they also have the inaugural minutes of the Club on display. It promises to be quite an event!
On an international note, one of the Club’s members (former President Marion) made a very recent visit to the Inner Wheel Club of Lusaka, where she was warmly welcomed and was able to present Joy Bags directly to the club for distribution in their area. The Joy Bags, which members put together, contain special treats for the ladies (including pens, notebooks, shampoo, brushes, combs, jewellery, underwear and body lotions). Marion has received the Margarette Golding award (a national award given to a person who has given outstanding personal service to either the local or wider community) for all that she has done for Inner Wheel. Margarette Golding was the founder of Inner Wheel and the Club are very proud to have an award recipient from Retford.
