As well as promoting friendship, Reford Inner Wheel Club actively supports charities both in the UK and internationally.
In preparation for their annual Charter Lunch at Ye Olde Bell (the theme of which was ‘A Day at the Races’), the club has hired some fabulous hats from member Helen Grainger. Any money raised from the hats is to go to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
Internationally, member Marion Tasker has set up the Pad Project which enables washable and reusable sanitary pads to be made and given to young girls. The First Lady of Zanzibar welcomed Marion to her office, which the First Lady has turned into a workshop. Marion has also been given the Keys to a City in Gambia by the Mayor as a thank you for all she has done for them.
Providing girls with washable and reusable sanitary pads means that they do not miss any school, as formerly they were not able to go to school whilst they were having their periods.
