The Dukeries Woodturning Society

by | 21 August 2018 | Hobbies, Retford, Sherwood, Worksop

The Dukeries Woodturning Society meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month between 7.00pm and 10.00pm in the Jubilee Hall, Wellow Road, Ollerton NG22 9AP. The group moved there earlier in the year and now have much more room and a more comfortable environment for members.

Each month the society arranges a professional demonstrator to show members some aspect of woodturning. They own their own lathe which most demonstrators will use and they use a video system to project the demonstrator’s view in close up as (s)he works, so that everyone can see in detail what is happening.

It is a friendly club with members across the age and skill ranges. There is an opportunity to purchase supplies of tools and materials for turning each month and regular visits from well-respected local supplier of wood suitable for turning. The annual subscription is £15.00 per person, with a monthly attendance fee of £5.00, which includes tea/coffee. Guests are welcome to come and try the club before joining.
Demonstrators for the remainder of 2018 are:

  • August — Tony Kitchen/Steve Wright wood sales
  • September — Tiny Turner (Emma)
  • October — Richard Findley/Steve Wright, wood sales
  • November — Gerry Marlow
  • December — members night and social
