The Dukeries Singers’ upcoming shows

Well, I cannot believe it! I sit by the radiator as I write because we have snow outdoors again. I sincerely hope we are all warmer by the time you are reading this. In a rare burst of enthusiasm, I retrieved the propagator from the shed and sowed lots of seeds and now I have to move them on and the path is too slippery for me to access the greenhouse.
Fortunately, The Dukeries Singers is not subject to the vagaries of the weather, as members rehearse in comfort every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm to 9.15pm in the Concert Hall at The Dukeries Academy in Ollerton. This is best accessed via the Leisure Centre entrance and car park.
The choir has a summer programme of engagements that members are looking forward to performing:

  • Saturday 12th May — A concert at Farndon Church at 7.30pm. There will be choir members, ex choir members and many friends at this venue. It is such a joy to perform for them.
  • Saturday 23rd June — The choir’s regular Summer Concert. Because this is the choir’s 40th anniversary, members are hoping for bumper numbers to help them celebrate. The venue has moved to the Jubilee Hall, Wellow Road, Ollerton, where the choir shall have more space. Members are looking forward to this event and warmly welcome ex-choir members and friends to come. There is just one founder member in the choir currently, as enthusiastic as ever and much valued. The choir is delighted that ‘The Gentlemen’ will be joining them to sing in their own inimitable style, a welcome addition to our celebrations. The concert begins at 7.00pm and tickets cost £7.00. They are available from 01623 863450.
  • Saturday 7th July — A concert at All Saints Church, Weston, at 7.30pm. The choir is looking forward to singing at this new, for them, venue.
  • Saturday 21st July — The choir has again been invited to sing at Milton Mausoleum at 7.30pm. ‘The Gentlemen’ have also been invited to sing so a super evening of entertainment is guaranteed. It is such an evocative place to sing — very goosepimply, but in a nice way.
