The Arts Society Dukeries’ next lecture is on Wednesday 3rd May, where James Campbell will talk on ‘The Art of Winnie the Pooh’.

Investigating the collaboration between AA Milne and EH Shepard that produced the iconic images for one of the nation’s favourite children’s books. This was the first time that an author and illustrator had worked together, feeding off each other’s creative input and reaction to the words and pictures.

This lecture includes never previously published drafts and drawings of Winnie the Pooh and friends in the Hundred Acre Wood.

The following lecture, on Wednesday 7th June, will explore Canterbury Cathedral through the lives of Thomas Becket, King Henry IV and Cardinal Morton. The speaker will be Jonathan Foyle.

Trails of Discovery

The Arts Society Dukeries, with the help of Tickhill Town Council, has created a Trail of Discovery for Tickhill, and people are encouraged to take part now the weather has improved. It has proved particularly popular with schoolchildren. The Trail is downloadable to a mobile phone, tablet or iPad and has interactive, multiple-choice questions about places of interest in Tickhill. See QR codes in the Town or find the Trail on the Society’s website.
