The ‘ancient’ Ordsall Parish Scarecrow Festival is back!

by | 5 September 2020 | Community Event, Retford

Now in its 12th year, the ‘ancient’ Ordsall Parish Festival over the first weekend in September will see lots of scarecrows popping up across Ordsall and west Retford. You can help to pick the winners of this year’s Festival over the 5th and 6th September by voting for your favourite from among the many scarecrows on show.
Some will be made and displayed by families, others by organisations and businesses. But all of them will be helping to keep the Parish Hall, on Church Lane in Ordsall, as a warm and welcoming venue for the whole community.
You can buy a map to help you find all of the scarecrows, and your map will tell you how to cast your vote for your favourites too.
Because of the Covid restrictions, Ordsall Church will not be open this year to festival visitors and the community BBQ will not be taking place, but friends at The Gate Inn on All Hallows Street and at The Clumber Inn on Welbeck Road will be open to all visitors to the festival and selling the golden festival maps. Maps will also be available from Ordsall Post Office and from other local vendors.
