When Sutton cum Lound Gardening Club met on Tuesday 4th December in Barnby Moor Village Hall, it was a seasonal event with a table decoration/swag and wreath making session. The group were soon busy making their own creations, under the watchful eye of demonstrator Sally Barker, the guest for the evening.

The instructor soon produced some Christmas wreaths which were later donated as prizes. Club members also produced similar floral arrangement and to a very high standard. Wine and nibbles were on offer during the evening just to get members off to a good start for the festive season.

On the Saturday night the group were busy again when they held their annual Christmas dinner at Retford Golf Club. After an excellent meal it was time for the club’s seasonal draw, an event which offered many top-class prizes. The first being a helicopter trip for two people donated by John Radford, and was won by Caroline Bamford. April Lavin won the Sutton Galloways beef voucher donated by Paul and Rose Cody. A £25.00 meal voucher from Ye Olde Bell Hotel was won by Carol Whitehouse. A great many other prizes were won on the night, the draw was overseen by staff, a member from the golf club and draw master Roger Bird. Thanks go to the committee for organising this very successful event and other events throughout the year and to members and visitors for their support. A few vacancies still exist within the group and further information about the club and its activities available from Elaine Hauser on 07969 254920. Members old and new are always welcome.
