Summer at 7th Retford Scout Group

by | 15 September 2024 | Children's Group, Retford

This month, the 7th Retford Scout Group has enjoyed a variety of activities. Squirrels and Beavers had a barbecue, Cubs celebrated American Independence Day with burgers and hotdogs, and Scouts tried open fire cooking. Water games and water rockets were popular among Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts, while Beavers and Cubs also participated in a clay modelling session. Scouts made sedan chairs and competed in races at the park. All these activities have been both fun and educational, contributing towards badge work.

The new Squirrel Drey has held three sessions and will resume in September. The other sections will continue with sessions during the summer holidays and are planning a family barbecue.
Parents interested in enrolling their child in Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts can contact Hazel Newstead at 7thretford@gmail.com. Hazel will provide information on the appropriate section for their child, any waiting lists, and potential start dates.

The group is also seeking additional adult volunteers for all sections: Squirrel Scouts (ages 4 to 6), Beaver Scouts (ages 5¾ to 8½), Cub Scouts (ages 7½ to 10½), and Scouts (ages 10 to 14½). More information on volunteering with Scouting can be found on the Scouts website at www.scouts.org.uk/volunteer/Volunteering with Scouts. Those interested in joining the team or seeking details about other groups in Bassetlaw can contact Hazel at 7thretford@gmail.com or the District Team at DC.Team@bassetlawscouts.org.uk.
