Last month we were celebrating the easing of lockdown restrictions, thanks to a reduction in COVID-19 cases. This month it looks horribly like the number of cases is rising again and the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust North Nottinghamshire Local Group’s hopes of being able to meet and catch up with friends are receding along with fantasies of enjoying warm cheese scones at the lovely Idle Valley café.
Sadly, they are as much in the dark as ever regarding when they shall be able to offer their usual range of activities and talks. It seems certain that their planned September meeting at the Idle Valley on the 10th, which would have been about recycling with Lesley Taylor of Veolia, will not now take place.
The good news is that, although the Idle Valley centre is closed, you can still visit the reserve where the wildlife, undeterred by the virus, is happily going about its wild business as it is on all the trust’s other reserves. There is a variety of online events, some of which are open to non-members. Information can be obtained by requesting email updates. If you do, you also get regular information on the local wildlife from others in the area who are frequently emailing with their sightings, advice and comments on things such as rare bird visitors, hedgehogs and progress reports on rescued or injured wildlife. You don’t have to be a member of the trust for this but of course if you are, your contributions go to support wildlife in your area.
If you want any more information or you’d like a chat about things, call Jan on 01777 709974 or 07969 180067 or email janwilliamson133@gmail.com. If you would like to receive email updates of Local Group activities, please email Jan with your request.
