St Swithun’s Church hosted a magnificent Christmas Tree Festival once again in 2022, from 26th November to 3rd December.
82 individual trees were decorated by a range of voluntary organisations, businesses and schools, making the church look festive to start off the Christmas season. Over 50 volunteers cheerfully took on the roles of welcomers, café attendants, cashiers, soup makers and raffle ticket sellers.
Music was provided by Stephen Carey and David Bird on the organ, as well as various groups such as the Ordsall Handbell Ringers, the U3A Recorder Group, Ian Dowlman and Emma and David.
The Christmas tree outside the main door and the altar tree were provided by Retford Civic Society and erected and decorated by its members.
This annual community event is only made possible by the goodwill and efforts of all who help and visit. It is an event of which Retford should be proud. St Swithun’s Church would like to thank everyone who took part and is looking forward to next year.
