May services and events
- Sundays, 10.30am: Morning worship with Sunday Club for children. Coffee / tea and biscuits are served, offering time to chat following the service. Communion is shared on the second and fifth Sundays of the month.
- Sunday 4th May, 10.30am: St Saviour’s Cafe Church – a new way to explore faith and experience Church. This will continue on the first Sunday of every month, where a free breakfast / brunch will be served in church from 10.30am to 11.00am, followed by a short informal, innovative and accessible service suitable for anyone who is curious or seeking to belong. All are welcome.
- Tuesdays, 3.30pm to 4.45pm (term time): Lego Club for primary-age children and their adults. Play, snacks, and Bible stories. Contact Jane on 01777 948431. No club on Tuesday 27th May.
- Wednesdays, 10.30am: Traditional Book of Common Prayer Communion followed by a time of friendship and refreshments.
- Thursdays, 5.00pm: Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides. Contact clarecheetham19@gmail.com.
- Grief Café: On the first Tuesday of each month from 2.00pm to 3.00pm, there is an informal gathering for those who have been bereaved. A time to share experiences in a safe environment. Just turn up, or contact Barbara Moakes on 07768 159844 for more information.
- Pies, Peas and Performances: Hosts monthly live music events in the Community Centre. For more information, contact Mark Barnett on 01777 701865.
There are midweek Time Together groups where people meet to learn more about Christian faith and spend time chatting. Contact Jane and Andrew on 01777 948431 or Barbara Moakes on 07768 159844. - In addition, there are regular AA meetings, art classes, calligraphy, bingo, Tiny Toes Ballet, and a judo group that all meet in the Community Centre. - Christian Aid: There will be a joint service at St Saviour’s on Sunday 11th May at 6.00pm to mark the start of Christian Aid Week. All are welcome to come and celebrate the work of the Christian Aid organisation worldwide. The service will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to chat and get to know people from other churches in Retford.
- Girls’ Night Out: A themed event for ladies to channel their inner outlaw. Come down to the Greenwood and enjoy a medieval night out with a banquet, quiz, music, fun, and friends, all for £8.00 on Friday 9th May. Doors open at 7.30pm. - Guitar Show: On Monday 5th May, from 10.00am to 3.00pm, an event sponsored by Tanglewood Guitars. Tickets are £6.00 on the door or call 07866 494557.
