Sunday 28th April will see the fifth celebration of St George’s Day at Retford Town Hall from 1.00pm to 4.00pm. The event is the brain child of Wendy Quigley, chairman of The Friends of St George. There will be non-stop entertainment from local people, a sketch about St George our Patron Saint and treats from competitors in the light-hearted Retford’s Got Talent show. It’s not often you get something for free these days. Everyone is welcome to the afternoon, which will be held in the ballroom of our Town Hall, starting at 1.00pm when our local groups, led by the girls, will march from Carolgate to the Market Place. Our patron saint fought dragons to conquer all but is a sadly neglected saint so some years ago Wendy decided she would revive his saint’s day with music, dance and laughter.
