Once again, St Bartholomew’s Church, Sutton-cum-Lound are holding a Christmas tree festival on Friday 12th to Sunday 14th December. The church will be open from 11.00am to 4.00pm on Friday and Sunday, and from 1.00pm to 5.00pm on Saturday. The later opening on Saturday will allow you the chance to see the trees lit up in the dark, which is a lovely experience.
Last year they had 18 Christmas trees, all decorated by local groups and businesses, and plans are well underway for similar numbers this year. The Grade I listed church always looks stunning, especially over the Christmas period, and is well worth a visit. Refreshments will be available and there will also be a couple of competitions and a raffle. Children successfully hunting the naughty elves will get a small prize. On the Sunday afternoon, the local band Beauty and the Bass will provide an hour’s musical entertainment. The church bells will ring out on Saturday afternoon.
Admission is free, and any money raised will be put towards the upkeep of their beautiful old
building. Please check their Facebook page for more details. The trees will remain on display throughout the Christmas period.
Sunday services are 9.30am every Sunday, and everybody is welcome. On Christmas Eve the church will be open from 3.00pm for those who want a period of quiet reflection. The ever-popular crib service is at 6.30pm on Christmas Eve and the Christmas Day service will be at 9.30am.
