See Rattlejag Morris on Boxing Day

by | 16 December 2018 | Community Event, Dancing, Gainsborough, Retford, Rotherham, Sherwood, Worksop

If you are out and about on Boxing Day this year, Rattlejag Morris, based in Retford, will be ‘dancing out’, as is the old tradition at rural pubs, and everyone is welcome to join them — maybe even having a chance to dance.  As in previous years, they will be taking their local ‘plough morris’ style to the Blue Bell Inn, in Gringley-on-the-Hill, at 12.00pm, on 26th December and at 1.00pm to the Blacksmith’s Arms in Everton. Both rural hostelries are off the A631 Bawtry to Gainsborough road.

The musicians from the AVID Blue Bell sessions will play in that pub afterwards and there will also be traditional music in the Blacksmith’s following the dancing, along with a bit of drama! The Rattlejag Mummers will be presenting their seasonal version of the East Markham Plough (or folk) Play. Stay on after the dancing at these delightful village pubs for some good refreshment and a bit more free entertainment.
